I was recently tagged to list three quotes in three days. I shared my favorite quote from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Fellowship of the Ring. It got me thinking how much I enjoyed that book (I think it’s time for a re-read) and how lyrically it’s written. So I thought I’d share some more of my favorite quotes from that wonderful book!
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”
“Short cuts make long delays.”
“Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment.”
“I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread.”
“Advice is a dangerous gift, even from the wise to the wise, and all courses may run ill.”
“Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.”
“Don’t adventures ever have an end? I suppose not. Someone else always has to carry on on the story.”
