Porn Star

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000035_00031]

By Laurelin and Sierra Simone

Goodreads / Amazon

I wanted to like this one, I really did. And since I listened to it on audio and it was narrated by my favorite narrator, Jacob Morgan/Zachary Webber, I should have liked it. But I just…didn’t.

Here’s the synopsis:

Come on, you know you do.

Maybe you pretend you don’t. Maybe you clear your browser history religiously. Maybe you pretend to be aghast whenever someone even mentions the word porn in your presence.

But the truth is that you do know me.

Everybody knows Logan O’Toole, world famous porn star.

Except then Devi Dare pops into my world, and pretty soon I’m doing things that aren’t like me–like texting her with flirty banter and creating an entire web porn series just so I can get to star in her bed. Again. And again.

With Devi, my entire universe shifts, and the more time I spend with her, the more I realize that Logan O’Toole isn’t the guy I thought he was.

So maybe I’m not the guy you thought I was either.

lingus
Goodreads / Amazon

Maybe I didn’t care for it because the book was so close to Lingus by the master of the slow burn, Mariana Zapata (which I LOVED!)? Try as I might, I couldn’t help comparing the two and this one paled in comparison….

The book started out funny enough, I had high hopes for it. But it lost the humor for me too quickly and turned into exactly what you’d expect a book called Porn Star to be…

Don’t get me wrong. I like a little raunch. Sometimes I like a lot. But not at the expense of the story… And that’s what I feel like this was. There were so many opportunities for good story lines that were passed up in this novel so we could talk about the characters’ sex life.

I wanted to hear more about Devi’s quirky parents! I wanted to read about how Logan was sad that his parents were moving away! (That was a story line that was started and then completely abandoned). Instead, we got a lot of detail about what our hero and heroine were like in bed. Explicit details. Like I said, I’m all for smut. But not when that’s the only thing I’m getting….

I just feel like Porn Star was a bunch of missed opportunities for greatness. And that’s a shame.

Two stars…..
